"Ladies and gentlemen, are you ready to be entertained?"
Those were the first words out of Beyoncé's mouth Friday night at Oakland's Oracle Arena, and the R&B diva delivered on that offer in spades. With the help of 10 dancers, a talented all-female band and a couple of tractor-trailers' worth of costumes, there was nary a dull moment in the two-hour show, one of the most eye-popping to hit the Bay Area in recent memory.
Even when there was no visual spectacle - beyond the singer's obvious beauty, anyway - Beyoncé delivered fireworks with just her voice, such as a late-show number from "Dreamgirls," performed in front of a plain white curtain, that had the crowd riveted. |
